Introducing Sogdiana, 21, an Immigration Analyst based in DC with a background in International Relations (focus areas: Human Rights & Peace, Security and Global Conflict Resolution) and Economics!
1. What inspires you the most?
I find inspiration in people. Mainly and foremost, in our people and history. I find it within the process of adapting a sense of resilience and strength passed from our older generations. To be able to move without fear and stand up to the challenges seen and experienced in our daily lives.
2. What is the most important lesson you have learnt recently?
To always put my trust in God; no matter what stage of a life cycle I might be in. Often, living abroad we tend to get lost or question if we are in the right place. But then again, being able to leave everything to the Almighty always gives me a strong sense of harmony and peace.
3. What are two subjects you love to talk about?
I love to talk about history, and everything in between beginning with culture, traditions, linguistics. We are a mere slaves if we don’t know who we are and where we come from. The second subject is human rights but there are many nuances that make this subject seem more complicated...
4. What are your short term goals?
To be accepted into a Law School and be specialized in Human Rights Law as well as Constitutional Law. Be closer to my community and make new connections where possible.
Would you like to plug anything?
-I would like to get to know people in our community, grow closer and stronger. Would love to take a part in any culture-related project. Assist and guide the youth where needed.
