Introducing Kawsar, 23, a Mechanical Engineer based in Chicago!
1. What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about soccer (I play almost everyday and attend Uyghur cup annually), public speaking (in local mosques/colleges, I speak about Uyghur issue) and entrepreneurship (I guess it is in my blood since I am from Atush 🙂 I hope to start a startup soon with my creative engineering ideas.)
2. How have you spent the last year?
I spoke up and testified for my father who was detained in the concentration camps for almost two years until April 2019. I finished bachelor's of mechanical engineering and started working as a full time engineer. Traveled to DC, LA, San Francisco, NYC, Tampa, Dallas, Houston and Pittsburgh etc.
3. What are your short-term goals?
In next 2-4 years:
1. Help the Uyghur cause. Assist in preserving Uyghur culture abroad
2. Keep learning Arabic (To understand Quran) and Spanish (to pretend to be Mexican)
3. Try to fulfill half of the deen 🙂
4. Finish my Master's with scholarship or company sponsorship
5. Meanwhile start my own company
Would you like to plug anything?
-I reserved a booth at MAS-ICNA Convention 2019, one of the biggest Muslim conventions in North America that occurs in Chicago every December. I would like to introduce our Uyghur culture and explain Uyghur crisis that we are facing. It is also good opportunity to see if people like our traditional clothing or other things. They may even offer money to buy those. (Told you I am from Atush)
Feel free to let me know your opinion on this or if you have any better idea. Contact me if you would like to donate/lend your Uyghur Kanway/Duttar or anything Uyghur related. You can also help us by doing similar things in your local community. Don't hesitate to reach out to me. My email: kawsarwayit@gmail.com
