Introducing Ibrahim, 20, a student based in Göttingen, Germany!
1. What are you passionate about?
I especially like to do sports, to go outside and run. I also like to read historical books for example about Uyghur culture and also German literature like Goethe, Berthold Brecht and Heyne...
In the future I want to become a teacher and educate poor students who can't afford education in Central Asia. I want to create an exchange program for students in Germany and Kazakhstan where Uyghur students can meet each other in different countries.
2. What inspires you the most?
Well, I know a lot of teachers who are volunteer teachers in developing countries and are educating the students there. I also went this summer to Alma-Ata and visited Uyghur schools there and met with teachers who really inspired me.
3. How have you spent the last year?
After my graduation in 2018 I joined the army for one year in the infantry. It was the hardest but also the best time of my life. I met a lot of new friends. The German army was also tolerant of my religious opinion; I was able to pray (they offered me a separate room), furthermore there was halal food.
