Introducing Bextiyar, 29, an artist and film director based in Paris!
1. What inspires you the most? The sun will always shine and shed it’s light on the whole world. No cloud or darkness will ever be able to imprison it. One period of bad weather does not signify that the sun does not exist. My hopes and dreams push me forward. What pushes me forward is that sun.
2. What two subjects do you love to talk about? My favourite subjects to talk about are the arts and philosophy. The arts cannot exist without a foundation of philosophy, and if one’s thirst is not quenched by the well of knowledge, then it will not give a person the feeling of “the arts”.
3. What are your short term goals? In the next five years I will finish writing an “Uyghur Language Dictionary of Film & Television”. This will hopefully become the foundation for a new wave of vocabulary added to the existing Uyghur lexicon as new ideas and guidelines from this book helps expand Uyghur vocabulary in other fields.
